To work on Art Prize....

So the excitement has turned into panic...art prize with a baby who has just started to crawl.?! Hmmm I know it will work...but I could use some more encouragement for sure....and a baby sitter! Wish me luck folks gonna jump in running!

Sooo long time no write...

The baby boy that has entered our life is almost 7 months old...ofta I have to tell ya that having a baby this late in the game is a little trickier than I thought...sweeter but definitely tricky!

It is that time of year for Art Prize and this year I am working with a wonderful ceramicist named Heather Robinson.  You can view some of her amazing work locally at Minty Keen located in down town Grand Rapids and also at http://www.etsy.com/shop/paperpeacock?ref=ss_profile .  I am excited to see the combination of the organic shapes mixed with my fiber work!  

Here is a short description of the installation piece:

Process of Operations

"Operations of Process" is an installation piece that came to me during Art Prize 2011. Discussions of the public perception of art and what was actually created/labeled art was a hot topic that resurfaced. This discussion was and is not a new debate-however it led me to the idea to show the process of the creation of art. The general concept for Operations of Process is to take a finished work and break it up into multiple critical layers. By layers I mean natural resting breaks in an artists process such as an under painting drying, ceramicist work being bisque fired. These layers in the installation (7 total )will be shown in neutral fiber gallery walls as dioramas filled with porcelain and fibers working up to a finished piece.

So it took a little time wrangling to get the entry paperwork done but the feet is complete!  I hope to load some photos soon!

SHOW DAY


Off at to Northville MI right on Main Street for Art in the Sun a three day juried show! Stop by booth 36A and take a look at the new scarves not listed on Etsy plus a few bags, wrist cuffs, wall art, pins, and some wallets!!!! Hours are Friday June 24 from 4-9, Saturday June 25 11-8 and Sunday June26 11-5.

A baby a brand new baby will join the brood some time in the later month of October. Things have slowed down for a while and I have been catching up on all things/projects/quilts for customers. We are finding out what we are having this Tuesday which made me wish this wish as it kicked to let me know it too was awake.

"Let the sweet baby be one of one (even though I know it is one), be kind, healthy, gentle, and sweet."
Over and over again I asked this.

This news came with an original arrival date of October 14th, making Art Prize seem a little out of reach this year. However, the date has been moved and I have again made the amazing commitment to take part in one of the largest open art competitions ART PRIZE! I will be at DeVos Place once again. So wonderful to be a part of this competition in a equally amazing venue.

"Stormy Night" will be seen as part of a salon show at Aunt Dofe's Hall of Recent Memory in Willow Creek MT opening up during the summer art walks that take place the 3rd Friday of every month. I am excited to have this piece hang where the concept was originally conceived.

One more juried show in Northville MI (around Detroit/Novi area) to get the juices flowing and concentrate more on the fine art I love to create......just as soon as I finish my back log!

SPRING BREAK SALE

Soooooo I have been a non-blogging fool these last few months! In the coming weeks there will be an announcement that will explain why......you must wait though!

In the mean time I have a show in Novi MI April 15- the 17th...three days of meeting new folks and hopefully catching up with a few of you! I will be at booth 234 at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave. Novi MI 48374. Not only was this a jouried show.. but there will be awards for the top 3 booths out of 670 booths, (Better odds then Art Prize hehehe) a wine show and Iron Chef competition will be going on in another gallery Saturday night sure to be a good time! I have a few free entry day passes for the Great Lakes Art Fair for the first 3 to respond to this post and a 2$ off plus free parking for the 2 posts after that.

In the mean time I will be having a SPRING BREAK SALE on Etsy that will run until APRIL 1st 2011 to help cover booth fee, and hotel fee costs! Just enter coupon code SPRINGBREAK2011 and get 15% off of everything in my shop!!!

Sale SALE sALe

SOOOoooo I was rearranging my etsy shop and noticed there is a LOT of purple and turquoise....I need some new yarns....What is a shop girl to do when she needs new supplies???? SALE!! Only this weekend.....hurry hurry!

MSU show OVER!

Thank you to my new friends I met at the MSU show! I owe a special thanks to Emily of Bricolage Studios for coming on Sunday to help me at the show and the pack up mess! Another thanks goes to Jane Hanna for sitting with me amongst the hoards of folks that walked past on Saturday. Without these two ladies the show would have been crazier insane than any show I have done! It goes without saying The MSU show is over and it was slightly laborious.

I have a larger stock then normal and will begin posting to Etsy this afternoon provided I can find my camera and a new battery! I will also be taking more scarves and pins to the Battle Creek Arts Center for their Holly Mart that runs the rest of this month, an art walk in Allegan at Baker Allegan Studios Friday the 10th, and a final show at Flourish Art Market in Grand Rapids on Saturday December 18th. SOOOoooo get em while they are hot..cuz they won't stick around for long!

The new scarves are full of cashmere, silks, hand dyed, bumpy wool from LLC. Farms, drop spindled yarns from http://www.bricolageStudios.etsy.com art bats, and some of her hand spun yarns as well. SHHHHWEEETNESS!
